**Sixth Escapee from New Orleans Jail Apprehended in Baton Rouge: “I Just Wanted Some Gumbo!”**
In a plot twist that could only be scripted by a Hollywood screenwriter with a penchant for absurdity, the sixth escapee from the notorious New Orleans Jail has been apprehended in Baton Rouge. Authorities say that 32-year-old Clyde “Gumbo Bandit” McGee was found hiding in a pot of jambalaya, claiming he was “just trying to blend in with the locals.”
Witnesses reported seeing McGee, who had been on the lam for a week, casually strolling through a Baton Rouge park wearing a giant foam finger that read “#1 Fugitive.” “I thought he was just really enthusiastic about escaping,” said local jogger Betty Lou, who later added, “I mean, who wouldn’t want to run away from a place that doesn’t serve beignets?”
When apprehended, McGee reportedly shouted, “I didn’t escape to go back to jail! I just wanted some gumbo!” His defense attorney, the illustrious and slightly confused Barry “The Baguette” Boulanger, stated, “Clyde was merely seeking culinary freedom. Isn’t that what America is all about?”
Authorities are now investigating how McGee managed to escape in the first place. “We’re looking into the possibility that he was aided by a rogue band of jazz musicians,” said Sheriff Tom “Jazz Hands” Johnson. “We’ve seen stranger things happen in New Orleans.”
As for McGee, he’s been returned to jail, where he’s reportedly started a new culinary class called “Cooking Up Trouble.” When asked about his future plans, he simply replied, “Next time, I’m escaping to a place with better food. Maybe a taco truck.”
