In a shocking turn of events, US Rep. LaMonica McIver is set to be arraigned on assault charges after an altercation with a fellow congressman at a recent charity event. The incident reportedly occurred when Rep. McIver mistook Rep. Johnson for a waiter and demanded he fetch her a drink.
Witnesses say that Rep. Johnson politely informed Rep. McIver that he was in fact a congressman, to which she allegedly responded, “Well, you look like a waiter to me! Now get me a martini, extra dirty!”
The situation quickly escalated as Rep. Johnson attempted to walk away, prompting Rep. McIver to grab a nearby vase and hurl it in his direction. Unfortunately for Rep. McIver, her aim was less than stellar, and the vase ended up hitting a nearby painting instead, causing a commotion that led to the police being called.
In a statement released by her office, Rep. McIver maintained her innocence, claiming that the whole incident was a misunderstanding. “I was simply trying to network and make connections at the event,” she said. “I didn’t mean to assault anyone, I just have a very forceful way of expressing myself.”
However, Rep. Johnson had a different take on the situation. “I’ve never been so insulted in my life,” he said. “I may have a face for radio, but that doesn’t give her the right to treat me like a common servant. I demand justice!”
As the arraignment date approaches, the political world is abuzz with speculation about what this scandal could mean for Rep. McIver’s career. Will she be able to keep her seat in Congress, or will this incident be the downfall of her political aspirations? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, Rep. McIver has reportedly hired a team of high-powered lawyers to defend her in court. When asked for comment, one of her attorneys simply replied, “We plan to vigorously fight these charges and prove Rep. McIver’s innocence. And if that fails, we’ll just blame it on a faulty vase.”
