In a shocking turn of events, Texas father of three, Bob Johnson, met his untimely demise after being struck by lightning while playing golf at the prestigious Pine Hills Country Club. Witnesses say that Johnson was on the 9th hole, just about to make a hole-in-one, when a bolt of lightning came out of nowhere and struck him dead on the spot.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” said fellow golfer, John Smith. “Bob was just about to make the shot of a lifetime when he got zapped like a bug on a windshield. It was like something out of a cartoon.”
Johnson’s wife, Karen, is understandably devastated by the loss of her husband. “I can’t believe he’s gone,” she said tearfully. “He was such a good golfer, too. I guess you could say he really got a ‘shocking’ end to his game.”
In a bizarre twist, Johnson’s golfing buddies have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for a lightning rod to be installed on every golf course in Texas. “We don’t want anyone else to suffer the same fate as Bob,” said friend and fellow golfer, Dave Thompson. “Besides, we can’t afford to lose any more good players. Who else is going to buy us drinks at the 19th hole?”
In response to the tragedy, Pine Hills Country Club has issued a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our valued members. We will be offering lightning safety seminars for all golfers moving forward, as well as complimentary umbrellas for those who wish to continue playing during inclement weather.”
As the golfing community mourns the loss of Bob Johnson, one thing is for certain – the next time you hit the links, be sure to watch out for those pesky lightning bolts. You never know when your game could be cut short by a shocking turn of events.
