The proposal, which was backed by the NRA and various gun rights advocates, was expected to sail through Congress. However, it seems that even the most die-hard supporters of the Second Amendment have their limits.
One Republican lawmaker, who wished to remain anonymous, was quoted as saying, “I mean, come on, we’re talking about silencers here. It’s not like we’re trying to outlaw AR-15s or anything. We just want to make it easier for people to shoot quietly, is that too much to ask?”
But it seems that even the most ardent supporters of gun rights couldn’t ignore the absurdity of the proposal. One fake lobbyist, named Bob McShootsalot, was quoted as saying, “I love guns as much as the next guy, but come on, silencers? What’s next, grenade launchers for toddlers?”
