The New York Knicks have been on the hunt for a new head coach ever since the firing of Tom Thibodeau, but rookie guard Deuce McBride doesn’t seem too fazed by the prolonged search. In fact, McBride seems to be taking it all in stride, cracking jokes and keeping his spirits high as the coaching carousel spins on.
“I’m just here for the popcorn,” McBride said with a grin. “I mean, who needs a coach when you have me dropping dimes left and right? I think I might just have to take over as player-coach at this rate.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the team’s coaching situation, McBride remains optimistic about the Knicks’ future. “I think we’ve got a real shot at winning it all this year,” he said with a wink. “As long as I’m running the show, of course.”
Teammates have been impressed by McBride’s nonchalant attitude towards the coaching search. “Deuce is a real jokester,” said forward Julius Randle. “He’s always cracking us up in the locker room, even when things are looking bleak. I think we could all learn a thing or two from him about staying positive in tough times.”
As the coaching search drags on, McBride continues to keep things light-hearted, even coming up with a few ideas of his own for potential candidates. “I heard they’re considering hiring a yoga instructor as our new coach,” he joked. “I mean, downward dog might just be the key to unlocking our full potential on the court.”
While the Knicks’ coaching search may be dragging on longer than expected, McBride’s humor and optimism are helping to keep morale high among the team. As the search continues, one thing is for certain: Deuce McBride will be there, ready to lead the Knicks to victory, with or without a coach by his side.
