Since the 2015 Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states, adults’ views on the matter have certainly evolved. From shock and disbelief to acceptance and celebration, the journey has been nothing short of entertaining.
One man, Jerry McJones, was quoted as saying, “I never thought I’d see the day when two men could walk down the aisle together, but hey, love is love, right?” When asked if he would attend a same-sex wedding, Jerry responded, “As long as they serve an open bar, count me in!”
On the other end of the spectrum, Mildred Pritchett had a different take on the issue. “Back in my day, marriage was between a man and a woman,” she stated firmly. “But now? Well, as long as they don’t try to recruit my grandkids into their rainbow cult, I guess it’s fine.”
Even politicians have had to adjust their views on same-sex marriage. Senator Bob Smith famously said, “I used to be against it, but then I realized how much money we could make from gay wedding registries. Cha-ching!”
But perhaps the most surprising transformation came from Reverend Harold Jenkins, who went from preaching fire and brimstone against homosexuality to officiating same-sex weddings. When asked about his change of heart, he simply replied, “God works in mysterious ways, and so does my mortgage payment.”
Despite the initial uproar and resistance, it seems that adults have come a long way in accepting and even embracing same-sex marriage. As one anonymous source put it, “Love is love, and if it takes two men or two women to show us that, then so be it. Now, who’s up for some rainbow-themed cake tasting?”
