Washed-up US soccer player predicts catastrophe for World Cup hosts.

Former USMNT star, Alexi Lalas, recently spoke out about the potential for a “massive failure” scenario for the US as host of the World Cup in 2026. Lalas, known for his fiery personality and luscious red goatee, warned that the US may not be prepared to handle the massive influx of soccer fans and teams that come with hosting the prestigious tournament.

In a press conference, Lalas stated, “I’ve seen the way Americans handle sporting events, and let me tell you, it’s not pretty. We’ve got people tailgating with hot dogs and beer at 8am for a 7pm game. Can you imagine the chaos when teams from around the world descend on our cities for the World Cup? It’s a recipe for disaster.”

Lalas went on to suggest that the US should take notes from countries like Germany and Brazil, who have successfully hosted the World Cup in the past. “We need to step up our game and show the world that we can host a world-class event. Otherwise, we’ll be the laughingstock of the soccer world.”

When asked for comment, FIFA President Gianni Infantino brushed off Lalas’ concerns, stating, “I have full confidence in the US’s ability to host a successful World Cup. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen? A few riots here and there, some traffic jams…it’s all part of the fun, right?”

In response to Infantino’s comments, Lalas quipped, “Oh sure, let’s just ignore the potential for disaster and hope for the best. That’s a solid strategy right there. Maybe we should hire a team of clowns to organize the tournament, that would be just as effective.”

Only time will tell if Lalas’ warnings will come to fruition, but one thing is for sure – the US better start getting its act together if it wants to avoid a “massive failure” on the world stage in 2026.
