In a shocking turn of events, a federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from ending temporary legal status for many Haitians. The decision has left the White House in a state of disarray, with President Trump reportedly throwing a tantrum in the Oval Office.
“This is an outrage!” Trump exclaimed. “I was just about to build a wall around Haiti to keep them out, and now this judge is ruining all my plans.”
The temporary legal status, known as Temporary Protected Status (TPS), allows Haitians to live and work in the United States while their home country recovers from natural disasters. However, the Trump administration has been pushing to end TPS for Haitians, citing the need to crack down on illegal immigration.
But the judge’s ruling has put a wrench in Trump’s deportation plans, much to the delight of Haitian immigrants and their supporters.
“I am so relieved that we can continue to stay in this great country,” said Marie Dupont, a Haitian immigrant living in Miami. “I was worried that I would have to go back to Haiti and face all those hurricanes and earthquakes. Thank goodness for this judge!”
However, not everyone is happy about the decision. Immigration hardliner and Trump supporter, Carl McImmigrant, expressed his outrage at the ruling.
“This is an absolute travesty,” McImmigrant fumed. “These Haitians are taking our jobs and draining our resources. We need to deport them all immediately!”
Despite the backlash from anti-immigration activists, the judge’s decision stands, much to the chagrin of the Trump administration. It seems that for now, Haitian immigrants can breathe a sigh of relief and continue to call America their temporary home.
