San Diego police on wild goose chase for fake rideshare creep.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Police Department is on the lookout for a man who has been posing as a rideshare driver in order to commit sexual assault. In a case that has left residents shocked and appalled, the imposter has been preying on unsuspecting passengers who are just trying to get home safely after a night out.

One victim, who wished to remain anonymous, described her harrowing experience with the fake rideshare driver. “I thought I was getting into a safe and legitimate ride, but as soon as we started driving, I knew something was off. He kept making creepy comments and trying to touch me. I was terrified.”

Detective John Smith of the San Diego PD issued a warning to the public, urging everyone to be cautious when using rideshare services. “We are actively pursuing leads to track down this criminal, but in the meantime, we urge everyone to make sure they are getting into the right vehicle and to always share their ride information with a trusted friend or family member.”

In response to the recent incidents, rideshare companies have also issued statements urging passengers to verify their driver’s identity before getting into a vehicle. Fake Lyft spokesperson, Sally Ride, had this to say: “We take the safety of our passengers very seriously and are working closely with law enforcement to ensure that this imposter is brought to justice. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to double-check their driver’s information before getting in the car.”

As the search for the fake rideshare driver continues, the people of San Diego are left on edge, wondering who could be lurking behind the wheel of their next ride. But one thing is for sure – the San Diego Police Department is hot on the trail of this criminal, and with the help of the community, they will soon have him in custody.

In the meantime, residents are advised to stay vigilant and to always prioritize their safety when using rideshare services. And remember, if your driver’s name is anything other than Bob Smith, you might want to think twice before hopping in the car. Stay safe, San Diego!
